EBIOBAMBU
First National School of Bamboo Construction in Brazil
The School of Bioarchitecture and Experimental Research and Technology Center in Bamboo, located in Visconde de Mauá, was founded in 2002 by architect Celina Llerena. We work for the preservation of biodiversity and the restoration of degraded areas, cultivating bamboo within biodiverse and agroecological agroforestry systems.
Our school conducts research and experiments to share knowledge on natural and ecological materials — such as earth, fibers, ceramics, recycled materials, green roofs, and especially bamboo — applied to sustainable construction and design.
We bring together professionals committed to exploring, improving, and sharing environmental, cultural, and economic technologies. Over the years, Ebiobambu has carried out numerous training courses, projects, constructions, lectures, and studies focused on sustainable development and material performance.
Driven by our concern for water quality in the region, we developed ecological sanitation systems, including a biosystem that serves up to 40 people and dry toilets that produce compost for our agroforests.
We remain dedicated to our commitment to the planet and to people, spreading technologies with low environmental impact and high social value.
Here, we learn by doing — guided by the pedagogy of enchantment and inner transformation.
Ebiobambu’s infrastructure is in constant growth — designed, built, and shaped daily through our courses and immersive experiences. We believe in a living and participatory architecture, engaging our students to leave their mark on our space and to carry a piece of us with them.
The school is set within a lush green area along the Marimbondo River, where our bamboo thrives and flourishes.

Founder, President & Architect-Builder
Celina Llerena
Architect Celina Llerena, co-founder of EBIOBAMBU, has an architecture and construction office with more than 47 years of experience in the market, where she develops various services such as ecological and organic architectural design, conventional architectural projects, consulting and adaptation of conventional architecture to ecological bio-architecture, as well as management, supervision, and monitoring of construction works.

Camila Llerena Hue
Specialized in Environmental Engineering from PUC, she has professional experience in environmental education across diverse social sectors, carrying out projects involving sustainability, cooperation, and education.
Technical Director
Ana Paula de Sá
Architect graduated from Universidade Gama Filho and holder of a postgraduate degree in Environmental Architecture, also from Universidade Gama Filho.

Bamboo Master
Ivair "Zezinho"
With over 10 years of experience in bamboo construction, Zezinho is our master bamboo craftsman. A partner of the school since its founding, he leads our construction team and is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of all school structures. He also works in planting, managing, and treating the bamboo.
